The Information Services Department provides and supports the applications, databases and technology infrastructure upon which the LDB runs its’ retail, wholesale and distribution business. We are part way through a multi year initiative to upgrade our technology. We are replacing legacy systems with enterprise applications, and are deploying common services across the enterprise for the web, identity management, integration and business intelligence. The LDB has been an early adopter of storage and server virtualisation technologies.

Reporting to Supervisor Desk Top Services the Technical Support Analyst is responsible for providing hardware and software technical support and problem solving assistance necessary to the Management and use of LDB systems and applications that link Head Office with the organization’s warehouse and retail outlets.

Qualifications:

Education
A combination of education,training and specific experience that would enable the achievement of the goals and objectives of the full scope of the position. A diploma or degree in IT or Computer Sciences or related disciplines with 2 years of related experience or 4 years of relevant experience combined with related courses from a recognized IT computer institute or school preferred.

Experience
-Provide guidance to co-op students and junior staff
-Resolving and troubleshooting of complex technical problems for both hardware and software
-Physical and technical installation of computer equipment in a variety of environments, preferably Warehouse, retail and office.
-Working within a complex IP network, and I.S. department; working within and to deadlines
-Proficient with MS Office and an assortment of IS Administrative software
-Applications, preferably to include Microsoft SMS and/or Shavlik Netchk, BMC Service Desk.

* Knowledge of the fundamentals of systems analysis and design to plan, co-ordinate and perform/implement systems testing, identify problems and recommend solutions,
* Knowledge of relational database concepts and structure to monitor systems,
* Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of application development to create applications and develop reports,
* Knowledge of the relevant department and corporate policies and procedures as they pertain to insurance processing requirements,
* Knowledge of the relevant department and corporate databases and systems as they pertain to insurance processing requirements, testing and support functions,
* Knowledge of the relevant computer applications and databases to enter, retrieve, analyse and edit data as well as to produce correspondence, reports and other materials,
* Knowledge of the principles of project management to develop, execute and monitor plans for projects.

Interestingly, TELUS Health’s jobs are not featured on TELUS’ Taleo system. There are couple technical jobs posted on this board and most of them are in Ontario or Quebec. There are limited jobs available in BC and AB.
